Week 17 – Reading Topics (Ekklesia Ch.1-2)

Chapter 1 – Church: A Radical Proposition
Ed writes, “His ultimate objective was not to reproduce or expand religious institutions. It was to see nations discipled by inserting the leaven of His Kingdom into their social fiber through His Ekklesia.” Please respond to this statement. Does it change the way you view church? What’s the difference between most church today and the purpose of the Ekklesia as Ed describes?

Chapter 2 – Transformation is a Journey
Ed’s 3rd paradigm of the 5 mentioned in this chapter is that “Labor is worship, and since all believers are ministers, they are to turn their jobs into places of worship to God and ministry to others.” He then lists some Scriptures to press in deeper into this statement: Colossians 3:23, Galatians 6:9-10, and Ephesians 2:10. Let’s discuss these passages in context of this 3rd paradigm.
